If you use bikes for transportation, you may have wished for some extra energy once in a while. When you are transporting passengers or gear more than a few miles, commuting to work, interacting with traffic, you might want to hit the accelerate butt0n. Todd at Cleverchimp made the Stokemonkey for just such occaisions, and is now selling production units. It is an electric motor driven by a battery. His website is at http://cleverchimp.com. The Stokemonkey is made for an bicycle product called the Xtracycle Sport Utility Bicycle. Todd has also started a blog, with bicycle articles and other interesting pieces. Check it out at Cleverchimp.
Wow, that bike looks awesome! The specs are pretty good too with a top speed of 30mph. But as cool as these things are, you should check your local laws. Some states have different laws and limit the top speed.
