Tis the season for Santa Claus detectors, such as that shown in U.S. Patent 5,523,741. With this device, a ribbon is stretched across the front of a chimney, and attached to the ring at the toe of the stocking. When SC comes through the chimney, the ribbon activates the device, which lights up. If it is lit when a child gets up in the morning, he knows that SC has been there. Sounds pretty foolproof.
