This hut is partway up the trail on Mt. Shasta. It is maintained by the Sierra Club as a rest stop for hikers.

From above the "heart", the route led through a narrow gully. This first climb up into the gully was a little tough.
Shortly after dawn, climbing up the chutes through the red rock ribs. The crampons made footing very secure, and easier to ascend than the loose rock on either side of the ice filled gulley.
Ice and snow fields near summit, just 1/4 mile and 100' elevation gain to the summit. Larger format.
Looking back at the route we had just come down, now several thousand feet below the summit.
This was on the descent, as clouds built in the area. The loose rock over hard rock made it tricky going.
