Ahhhh...the famous Seattle Mountaineers I can remember my first snow climbing outing with the Ice Axe..They had us beat the Adz to take off the sharp edge. I refused to. They were afraid that someone would cut themselves.

Interesting reference to the old alpinstocks. I had been looking for one for years and gave up, and simply made one for myself. Since I'm 6'9" an alpinstock actually looks almost right in my hands!
